The M360 series is also recognized as a gun used by Japanese police officers. The actual gun is the Air Lite series of the M36 Chief Special, a lightweight model that uses a scandium alloy frame and titanium cylinder. Despite its light weight, the stainless steel barrel liner allows it to fire powerful .357 Magnum ammunition, making it ideal for personal defense. Its enduring popularity has made it a best-selling model, remaining in the lineup for over 20 years since its release in 2001.

Previously, Tanaka modeled this same model as a model gun, but to replicate its lightweight design, it was an expensive limited edition model with an ABS base and a Cerakote finish. However, this model is made from heavyweight resin, and to make it more affordable, the frame is dyed black, with only the cylinder coated with the acclaimed Cerakote coating. The side plate is engraved with a "21 Electrons" mark, indicating that it is a special Air Lite series gun. The trigger and hammer have a case-hardened finish. This model is also known for its attention to detail, including a PD-exclusive red-point front sight.
