Smith & Wesson's customization division, the Performance Center, was established in 1990 by two skilled in-house gunsmiths. Initially, the goal was to manufacture specialized models for competitions based on the company's own guns. However, with the introduction of specialized CNC machines, the department evolved to plan and manufacture new models from scratch and sell prototypes exclusively to distributors. Today, the Performance Center handles a wide range of tasks, from producing premium models in S&W's regular lineup to limited-edition items, uniquely designed models, products with special features, and even repairs of standard-line firearms. However, all of the manufacturing staff are specialists with experience in handgun shooting, and their high level of technical skill remains unchanged to this day.
This heavyweight variation of the Pegasus Version 3 gas gun, a reproduction of the "Performance Center Series," is now available. By improving firing performance and maximizing the potential of the original Pegasus system, it delivers more powerful ballistics and is less affected by temperature. This "Comp Hunter" version features a distinctive tapered barrel and a muzzle compensator to reduce recoil. Standard features include a frame with the Performance Center trademark and realistic engraving, a round rear sight, and a semi-wide trigger with a stopper. Additionally, a weighted Hogue-type rubber grip with finger channel and a heavyweight resin body significantly improve rigidity and a sense of weight.
