Overview of the real firearm:
The AK-74M is a 5.45×39mm assault rifle developed in 1991 by Izhmash (now Kalashnikov Concern) in Russia. It is an modernized and improved model of the AK-74, adopted in 1974, and is still widely used as the standard rifle of the Russian Army. It also served as the basic design for the later AK-100 series.

The basic structure adopts the traditional long-stroke gas piston system and rotating bolt of the AK series, demonstrating high reliability even in harsh environments such as mud, dust, and low temperatures. The adoption of the 5.45×39mm round reduces recoil compared to the AKM, which uses the conventional 7.62×39mm round, improving control and accuracy during full-auto firing. The combination of a 415mm barrel and a large muzzle brake provides stable shooting performance with suppressed muzzle jump.

The AK-74M also saw a significant external redesign from previous models. Instead of fixed or metal folding stocks, it adopted a durable polymer side-folding stock. The handguard and pistol grip were also made of resin, improving lightness and weather resistance. Furthermore, a side mount rail is standard on the left side of the receiver, allowing for easy attachment of various optical sights and night vision devices, responding to the expandability required in modern warfare.

While retaining the high maintainability and excellent durability due to its simple structure, the AK-74M significantly improved operability and practicality, leading to its adoption by the Russian military and many law enforcement agencies, and earning high reliability through practical use. Its high level of completion made it the basis for the AK-100 series, which evolved into models like the AK-101, AK-103, and AK-105, and is highly regarded as the origin of modern Russian-made AKs.
