Yuji Oshita Model M10 2inch Early Heavy Weight STD (Standard)

The legendary detective drama "Abunai Deka." The TV series, which depicted the wild exploits of Toshiki Takayama, played by Hiroshi Tachi (Taka), and Yuji Oshita, played by Kyohei Shibata (Yuji), became a massive hit upon its debut in 1986 and was later adapted into films. It seemed the legend had come to an end when the final chapter, "Saraba Abunai Deka," was released in 2015... but in 2024, the latest installment, "Kaette Kita Abunai Deka," was released.

Before filming began, Tanaka Works was approached by "BIG SHOT," a gun effects team well-known throughout the Japanese film industry, to urgently produce and provide the M10 2-inch model used by Yuji in the film. Since the base gun for the firing prop used by Yuji in the previous film, "Saraba Abunai Deka," was a Tanaka Works M19, the request was to "use an M10 2-inch model in the same manner." The Tanaka Works development team ensured consistency between the firing and close-up models used in "Saraba," reproducing it as a model from the 1962-1968 era. (*Prop guns are sometimes prepared in multiple versions, such as for firing, close-up shots, or action sequences.)

The exterior recreates the features iconic to that era, such as the wooden grip with diamond checkering and the pinned barrel. Furthermore, it comes standard with a Pachmayr-style grip adapter, famously adopted by agencies like the FBI, to maximize the authentic atmosphere of law enforcement gear from that period. At that time, while the Japanese police had begun procuring the New Nambu, some prefectural police forces were importing the M10 from the U.S. due to shortages, making this a plausible setting.

As a model gun, it features Tanaka Works' latest internal Version.3 mechanism for the K-frame series. The body is made from their specialty high-density Heavy Weight resin, and the luxurious walnut (American walnut) grip has been weighted to further increase its heft. The model produced and provided is the very one used as the Yuji model in the latest film, "Kaette Kita Abunai Deka." We are pleased to bring you this same model, produced under the official license of the "Kaette Kita Abunai Deka" Production Committee.

Like the standard Tanaka Works lineup, this set includes the main unit and 6 firing cartridges. The firing cartridges are a special specification; instead of standard .38 Special cartridges, they feature copper-plated bullets and include dry-fire springs to reduce potential damage to the unit.
