Real Steel Overview:
The URX II (Upper Receiver Extending II) is a second-generation free-float rail system developed by Knight's Armament Company (KAC), an American firearms manufacturer. It emerged as an evolution of the traditional RAS series, offering a handguard that combines high accuracy with excellent expandability. It has been adopted by many AR platforms, including KAC rifles such as the SR-15, SR-16, and SR-25. By using a top rail that runs straight from the receiver to the handguard, it is designed to allow for the free mounting of optical sights, night vision devices, and other accessories.

The main features of the URX II are its high accuracy due to its free-float construction and KAC's unique high-rigidity design. It achieves superior fixing rigidity by using a dedicated barrel nut, and MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rails are placed on the top, left, right, and bottom. This provides high expandability, allowing for the attachment of various accessories such as red dot sights, scopes, weapon lights, laser devices, and foregrips. In many models, a folding front sight is integrated into the front end of the handguard, providing a smart structure that can be deployed only when needed.

Combining excellent robustness and practicality, the URX II has been adopted by military and law enforcement agencies, as well as many special forces AR configurations, earning high praise. Its design philosophy has been passed down to its successors, the URX3, URX3.1, and URX4, and has significantly influenced the development of modern AR handguards.
