Real Steel Overview:
The M16A4 is a 5.56×45mm NATO assault rifle manufactured by Colt and FN Manufacturing in the United States, representing the fourth generation of the M16 series. It was modernized based on the M16A2, replacing the fixed carrying handle with a flat-top receiver and MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail, achieving high expandability. Deployed as the standard rifle of the U.S. Marine Corps from the early 2000s, it served as a primary rifle in the Iraq War and the War in Afghanistan, among other conflicts.

The M16A4 features a 20-inch barrel and a fixed stock, inheriting the excellent accuracy and long-range performance characteristic of the M16 series. It employs a direct impingement operating system, combining a lightweight structure with high firing precision. Additionally, it offers semi-auto and 3-round burst firing modes, maintaining the high reliability and operability established by the M16A2.

Its most significant feature is its high modularity. By removing the detachable carrying handle, optical sights such as ACOG and M68 CCO can be easily mounted. Furthermore, by attaching a Knight's Armament Company (KAC) M5 RAS, it can accommodate various accessories like weapon lights, laser sights, foregrips, and M203 or M320 grenade launchers. This allows for flexible setups tailored to mission and unit requirements, providing high versatility adapted to modern warfare.

The M16A4, combining the high accuracy of its 20-inch barrel with excellent expandability, served for many years as the iconic standard rifle of the U.S. Marine Corps. Although it has since been superseded by the M4A1 and M27 IAR, it continues to be used for specific purposes. The design, considered the definitive form of the M16 series, significantly influenced subsequent AR platforms and is still highly regarded worldwide as a representative service rifle with excellent practicality and reliability.
