Tanaka S&W M49 Body Guard 3-inch Ver.2 HW Model Gun

Based on S&W's Chief Special, a model with a concealed hammer to prevent it from getting caught on clothing was developed for self-defense purposes and sold to the public under the name "Bodyguard."
Unlike the "Centennial," which completely covers the hammer and is double-action only, this model had an exposed hammer tip, making it possible to use it in single action as well. Initially, only a lightweight aluminum-framed version (later known as the M38 Bodyguard Airweight) was available, but a steel-framed version was later added to the lineup, and this was called the "M49 Bodyguard."
Most people think of the 2-inch barrel model, but there was also a 3-inch barrel model. Although portability was sacrificed and the overall balance was disrupted, the 1-inch longer barrel combined with single action allowed for improved accuracy. Another advantage was that it allowed for the use of a longer ejector rod than the 2-inch model, ensuring reliable ejection of .38 Special bullets. The 3-inch model of the actual gun was produced in very limited numbers, making it a premium model.
Now, a 3-inch model of the M49 Bodyguard is available as a model gun. This is the first time this model has been added to Tanaka's lineup. As a model gun, it is the latest version of the Tanaka J-frame model gun, Version 2, and features smoother operation and more realistic engravings.
