Product Description

The aluminum alloy frame version of the Detective Special was named "Cobra" and was released in 1951. At that time, Colt was actively beginning to use aluminum in its mass-produced models, and all of the aluminum used in these models was made from a lightweight, strong aluminum alloy developed by Colt with the cooperation of Alcoa. At the same time, Colt was also experimenting with new materials for grips, and as a substitute for wood, Bakelite, an early artificial plastic, was mass-produced. This was the arrival of a truly futuristic, next-generation model, with a combination of aluminum and plastic, which overturned the image of "steel and wood" that had been prevalent in guns up until then.
The impact of the cutting-edge materials at the time on the market was huge, with the Cobra weighing just 425g, an incredible 170g lighter than the Detective Special's 600g. As a result, it became a hit model, with 250,000 units being produced.
After that, a number of sibling models based on the Cobra appeared like mushrooms after the rain, which shows just how sensational this model was.
This time, we have produced this Cobra as an "R-model" model gun, which maintains the reproducibility while improving durability and operability. The cylinder lock-up problem (a symptom in which the timing between the trigger movement and the cylinder rotation changes) that occurred due to the faithful reproduction of the Colt mechanism has been resolved by changing the rebound lever to a two-piece structure made of a strong press and die-cast material, preventing misalignment of the operation timing over the long term.

▲Short ejector rod

The exterior also features anti-reflective grooves on the front and rear sights, anti-slip serrations on the trigger, and reproduces the characteristics of the early 1951 model, such as the Bakelite-style (ABS) grip, short ejector rod, rampant hose engraved in the center of the side plate, and Cobla engraving on the barrel.
The weight of the main unit without the cartridge is 421g, so you can enjoy a weight that is almost the same as the real thing.

Many people associate the Colt revolver with the name of a snake, so be sure to pick up and experience the charm of the Cobra, the first in the unique snake gun family that followed.
