Product Description
The New Police, a .32 caliber rifle created in 1907 at the request of the New York City Police Department, was upgraded to the Police Positive with the addition of a safety device called the "Positive Lock."
At the same time, the Police Positive Special chambered in .38 Special was also produced, and this model became popular as a lightweight revolver for police officers. The Police Positive Special, one of Colt's pocket-sized revolvers, later called the "D Frame," boasted a production record of 750,000 units, and virtually dominated the US police revolver market in the early 20th century. A Colt catalog from that time described it as "the most compact, lightest, and most powerful pocket and house pistol on the market."
　

The Police Positive Special, previously sold as a model gun by Tanaka Works, has been extensively remodeled and reborn as the "R-model" with improved reproducibility, durability, and operability. The cylinder lockup problem (a symptom in which the timing between trigger movement and cylinder rotation changes), which occurred in the previous model due to the faithful reproduction of the Colt mechanism, has been resolved by changing the rebound lever to a two-piece structure made of sturdy press and die-cast parts, preventing misalignment of the operation timing over the long term.

In addition, pressed weights have been installed inside the grip, and the exterior has been improved with anti-reflective grooves on the front and rear sights and serrations on the front of the trigger, faithfully reproducing the details of the 3rd type from around 1960.
Now, a steel finish model has been added to the "R-model" Police Positive Special variations. Not only has the barrel, frame, and trigger been re-plated, but the hammer color has been changed to a gray steel finish and the sides have been polished to resemble the original finish.


Colt has made a significant contribution to the evolution of revolvers, and the Detective Special is considered a masterpiece of compact double-action revolvers. This is a must-have item for not only model gun enthusiasts, but anyone. (Fires using 7mm cap powder. Includes six .38 Special firing cartridges.)
