Real Steel Overview:
The AKS-74U is a compact carbine chambered in 5.45x39mm, developed by Izhmash (now Kalashnikov Concern) in the Soviet Union in the late 1970s. It is a significantly shortened version of the AK-74, with "U" meaning "Ukorochennyy" (shortened) in Russian. Adopted in 1979, it was issued to units requiring high mobility, such as airborne troops, special forces, and tank/armored vehicle crews.
Its basic structure incorporates the traditional long-stroke gas piston system and rotating bolt of the AK series, ensuring high operational reliability even in harsh environments like mud, dust, and low temperatures. The gas system and a specialized flash hider were newly designed to accommodate the shortened barrel of approximately 206mm, suppressing operational degradation and muzzle flash caused by the shorter barrel. It uses the same 5.45x39mm ammunition as the AK-74, and despite its compact size, it boasts greater power and range than submachine guns.
The exterior features a metal stock that folds to the left, allowing the overall length to be reduced to approximately 490mm for portability. Later models adopted polymer handguards and pistol grips, improving both weight reduction and durability. Additionally, some models are equipped with a side mount rail on the left side of the receiver, compatible with optical sights and night vision devices.
Although the AKS-74U has a shorter effective range and lower muzzle velocity compared to full-sized AKs, its excellent portability and reliability have led to its long-term use by military and law enforcement agencies in the Soviet Union, Russia, and various other countries worldwide. It is also widely known in the West by its nickname "Krinkov" and remains highly popular as a quintessential compact AK. Its design philosophy has also been inherited by successors such as the AK-105, establishing it as a legendary firearm that greatly influenced the development of modern AK carbines.

・The warranty will be void (paid repair) if disassembly or modification by the customer or a third party is confirmed.
