Introducing a metal shell compatible with the popular M1897 ver.2 model gun!
Anodized aluminum for easy maintenance. Aluminum construction ensures a smooth ejection action.
While modern shotgun shells are generally made of lightweight plastic, the shells used in the M1897 were generally made of paper. The ammunition issued to soldiers for their trench guns in the U.S. Army during World War I was made of paper shells, just like commercially available ammunition, and was often unusable in the damp, muddy trenches.
Winchester (as well as Remington) took this issue seriously and produced an all-brass 00 buckshot shell that fired nine pellets at a time. This was a throwback to the brass shells used before paper shells became popular. However, this shell arrived in France just before the Armistice, and is said to have seen little practical use.
During World War II, the high humidity in the Pacific theater caused deterioration of paper shells, and brass shells were again used as an alternative. On March 29, 1945, the U.S. Ordnance Bureau standardized the brass 12-gauge 00 buckshot shell as the "M19," and Remington received large orders for "M19 shells."
This time, we've created the "M1897 Model Gun Version 2 Gold Aluminum Shell," inspired by the brass 00 buckshot. Made from lightweight aluminum, it not only ejects smoothly, but also produces the clear, metallic sound it produces when dropped to the floor. (Please note that strong impacts may cause breakage.) Furthermore, because this type of brass shell was widely used, from civilian and military use in the black powder era through World War I and World War II, we've intentionally left the rim unmarked to avoid limiting it to a specific era. This is a meticulously crafted masterpiece designed to allow you to fully enjoy the entire process, from firing to ejection.
