About the real steel VKS Vykhlop:
The VKS Vykhlop (Vihlop) is a special sniper rifle developed by Russia's TsKIB SOO (Central Design Bureau for Sport and Hunting Weapons) in the early 2000s, chambered for the 12.7x55mm STs-130 subsonic cartridge. Also known as "VKS" or "VSSK," it was developed for the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) special forces. Designed to maintain high stealth while delivering superior stopping power against targets wearing ballistic protection or behind cover, it is operated as a special rifle for missions where conventional VSS Vintorez rifles are difficult to use.
The VKS's greatest feature is its system combining an integrated suppressor with a specially developed 12.7x55mm subsonic cartridge. Compared to typical 12.7mm rifles, it significantly reduces muzzle flash and sound while maintaining the high kinetic energy characteristic of large-caliber ammunition, providing excellent penetration against ballistic protection and light cover. Multiple specialized ammunition types, such as high-precision and armor-piercing, can be used depending on the application, offering high accuracy and stopping power with an effective range of approximately 600m.
It adopts a bullpup layout and bolt-action operation, ensuring a sufficient barrel length while keeping the overall length short, thus achieving excellent portability even in confined spaces. It uses a detachable 5-round magazine, and various optical sights and night vision devices can be mounted on the Picatinny rail. It also features foldable iron sights, combining the high practicality and reliability required for special operations.
The VKS Vykhlop is a special sniper rifle that combines high stealth with the powerful stopping power of a 12.7mm caliber, and is still in use by Russian special forces today. Due to its unique design and excellent practical performance, it is known as a representative rifle of Russian special forces alongside the VSS Vintorez and AS VAL, and is a highly popular model in movies, games, and the airsoft world.
