What is the JAKL Rifle?
The PSA JAKL rifle is a modern sporting rifle developed by the American firearms manufacturer Palmetto State Armory (PSA). Its most distinctive feature is the adoption of a long-stroke gas piston operation, designed to offer reliability and operability different from conventional AR-15s. By eliminating the need for the buffer tube and buffer spring typically used in ARs, it allows for a folding stock and compact configurations, which is a major characteristic.
The JAKL's receiver has a monolithic (one-piece upper) structure for increased rigidity and is compatible with common Mil-Spec AR-15 lowers (a conversion adapter may be required). This design allows for the use of standard AR magazines and offers a high degree of freedom for accessory attachment. It also features practical functions such as an adjustable gas block and a side charging handle that can be set to either the left or right side.
Multiple barrel lengths and calibers are available, with 5.56 NATO models being central, but other caliber variations such as .300 AAC Blackout and .308 Winchester (JAKL-10) also exist. These allow for selection according to purpose and shooting style, with models ranging from rifles to pistol-sized short barrels.
