Day/Night/Auto/Fog Transmission modes allow CHEETAH to be used in a variety of lighting conditions. Fog Transmission Mode uses a special optical filter to improve infrared detection even in fog, ensuring reliable target capture and observation 24/7.

■ Built-in IR irradiation device and laser range finder
The built-in IR illuminator allows use in complete darkness (selectable infrared wavelengths of 850nm and 940nm depending on the model). When the Smart IR function is turned on, the IR illuminator automatically adjusts the amount of auxiliary light to achieve optimal exposure. Some models also have a built-in laser rangefinder that can measure distances up to 1000m.

Difference between infrared wavelengths of 850nm and 940nm

850nm is a common choice for IR night vision because it provides a brighter glow than 940nm units under the same lighting conditions, but 850nm still provides a subtle red glow that people and some animals can see when the camera is triggered in the dark, which can scare subjects away but still produces a clear black and white image.

940nm, on the other hand, is 30-40% less effective than 850nm, covers a shorter range when projecting light at a distance, and is completely undetectable to the naked eye by humans and some animals.
