This model replicates the square butt frame type of the M36 from before S&W transitioned to the model number system in 1957, when it was still known as the ".38 Chief Special" (commonly referred to as the pre-M36). Specifically, we have recreated the same model as the pre-M36 that served as a pivotal moment for Arthur, played by Joaquin Phoenix, in the critically acclaimed movie "JOKER" (2019) that led to his transformation into the Joker. This is likely the first commercial toy gun product to feature a square butt J-frame made from resin. The Chief Special with square butt specifications was added in the early 1950s. In addition to the distinctive square butt grip, the side plate also replicates the 4-screw type. Furthermore, we have newly produced the characteristic stepped flat thumbpiece seen on the pre-M36, which is taller than Tanaka's M36 early model. This model will be released based on the latest J-frame M36 Version 2 gas gun equipped with the Pegasus system.
