The K-frame series of real-life rifles is one of the most important models in Smith & Wesson's history, and the M19, among them, was introduced as a highly portable model capable of firing the powerful .357 Magnum round. Commonly known as the "Combat Magnum," it was widely adopted by American law enforcement and frequently featured in movies, TV shows, manga, and animation. The stainless steel version of the M19 is the M66. The "6" in M66 refers to the stainless steel material. (The naming conventions are quite irregular these days.) Stainless steel's rust and corrosion resistance made it a popular model for law enforcement officers who carried it for long periods of time, plainclothes detectives who carried it in shoulder holsters, and home defense, where maintenance is less demanding than with steel.
Now, the M66 is available as a Ver. 3 model gun. The definitive M66 model gun is now available in Version 3, with changes to the engraving, a revised exterior design, and the inclusion of a weight inside the grip, improving not only the weight but also the balance when held. It also reproduces the ultra-smooth operation feel unique to SW, and features an improved stainless steel plating.
