What is Defense MK18?
The Daniel Defense MK18 is a short-barreled rifle (SBR) for close quarters combat (CQB) developed for the U.S. Special Forces (USSOCOM). Based on the AR-15 platform, it features a 10.3-inch, chrome-lined, cold hammer forged barrel, combining high reliability and maneuverability. Its most distinctive feature is the Daniel Defense RIS II quad-rail handguard, officially adopted by Special Forces for its durability and expandability. The receiver is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum and finished with a hard-coat anodizing finish. Its specifications, including a caliber-length direct-impact gas system and an ambidextrous GRIP-N-RIP charging handle, are also designed for ease of use. Its overall length is approximately 26.75-29.88 inches and its weight is approximately 2.67 kg. It is subject to NFA regulations in the United States, and legal procedures are required for purchase and possession. It is considered a representative model of tactical ARs, offering exceptional combat performance despite its compact size.
