This is the export version of the high-quality SD-33X dot sight, manufactured in Japan by Sightron.

Due to their high quality, Sightron Japan's dot sights have been adopted by the Japan Self-Defense Forces .

This product is the US export model of the "SD-33X," which is designed for use with real guns and features high performance, high durability, and complete waterproofing , and has almost the same specifications as the SD-33X sold domestically (list price 37,950 yen including tax).

The differences between the domestic version SD-33X are as follows:

• The markings on the sight body are different
• The windage/elevation adjustment dials are shaped differently.
• The windage/elevation adjustment dials are labeled differently (UP/DOWN, L/R) than usual (see below).
• The rubber to prevent the adjustment dial from falling off is omitted.
• No kill flash included, but a polarizing filter is included instead
• Flip cap not included
• Dot size changed from 5MOA to 3MOA

Other functions and performance are the same as the domestic version SD-33X .

*The top dial adjusts the elevation (vertical) dot, while the dial on the right side adjusts the windage (horizontal) dot. However, the plate attached to the product states "L/R" on the top and "UP/DOWN" on the side. This is because the product was originally sold in the United States for bow hunting, and the orientation when mounted on a compound bow is different from that of a gun, so the labeling has been changed. The actual movement position is the same as that of a regular SD-33; only the labeling has been swapped, so if this bothers you, please replace the plate.

The dot size has been changed from 5MOA, which is considered for close range (handguns, shotguns) in real guns, to 3MOA, which is suitable for medium range (rifles) .

Most tube-type dot sights like this one for real guns are set at 0.5 to 3 MOA, and a 3 MOA dot is generally considered suitable for aiming at distances of 4 to 50 meters or more.

*The larger the MOA number, the larger the dot size. The smaller the number, the more suitable it is for long-distance aiming.

However, it is also perfectly suitable for use at the range of toy guns . For example, most of the popular Vector Optics dot sights for toy guns are 3MOA.

In fact, this will be a welcome feature for those who have had the experience of finding it difficult to aim because the dot is too large.

Also, the omitted anti-fall rubber on the dial often gets in the way when turning it or deteriorates and breaks, so I think it would be almost no problem if it was missing.

Therefore, the only disappointing thing compared to the Japanese version is that it does not come with a kill flash or flip cap .

However, a lens cover for storage is included , and the lens is made of special tempered glass that reduces the risk of the lens cracking even if hit by a BB bullet, so the need for a Killfla to protect the lens is low. And since it's such a low price , some minor issues can be overlooked.

The included polarizing filter is ideal for use in bright, illuminating environments. While using it slightly darkens the field of view, it enhances contrast. The dot images in the product photos are brighter without the filter and darker with the filter. Both were taken indoors under normal lighting.

Although it has most of the same features as the domestic SD-33X, it is priced significantly cheaper because it is a one-time OEM product .

The product is packaged with the name of a hunting field in Michigan, USA, and there is no mention of Sightron anywhere, but the sight itself is clearly stamped with "MADE IN JAPAN."

Because it is a hunting brand, the box design is a bit cheap and plain , which gives it a unique charm.
