In 1907, the .32 caliber New Police, created at the request of the New York City Police Department, was upgraded to the Police Positive with the addition of a "Positive Lock" safety. At the same time, the Police Positive Special was also produced in .38 Special, and this model became popular as a lightweight police revolver. The Police Positive Special boasted a production record of 750,000 units among Colt's pocket-sized revolvers, later known as "D-Frames," and virtually dominated the US police revolver market in the early 20th century.
A Colt catalog from the time described it as "the most compact, lightest, and most powerful pocket and house pistol on the market."
This time, the Police Positive Special, which was sold as a model gun by Tanaka, has undergone extensive modifications and has been reborn as the "R-model" with improved reproducibility, durability, and operability.
The cylinder lockup problem (a change in the timing between the trigger movement and the cylinder rotation) that was an issue with previous models due to the faithful reproduction of the Colt mechanism has been addressed by changing the rebound lever to a two-piece structure made of a sturdy pressed and die-cast material, preventing deviations in operation timing over the long term.
In addition, pressed weights have been installed inside the grip, and the exterior has been improved with anti-reflective grooves on the front and rear sights and serrations on the front of the trigger, faithfully reproducing the details of the 3rd type from around 1960.
The fit of other internal parts has also been revised, making this a model that allows you to experience the mechanism of the Colt double-action revolver that has been around for over 100 years.
