Overview of the real firearm:
The AK-105 is a 5.45x39mm carbine rifle developed by Izhmash (now Kalashnikov Concern) in Russia in the 1990s, belonging to the AK-100 series. Based on the AK-74M, its barrel was shortened to approximately 314mm (12.4 inches), designed to achieve a high level of balance between full-size rifle shooting performance and excellent maneuverability. It was developed as a successor to the AKS-74U, intended for operations requiring high maneuverability, such as urban warfare, vehicle crews, airborne troops, and special forces.
It employs the traditional AK series long-stroke gas piston and rotating bolt operating system, demonstrating excellent reliability even in harsh environments such as mud, dust, and low temperatures. In line with its shortened barrel, it is equipped with a dedicated large flash hider, which suppresses recoil and muzzle flash while also improving control during rapid fire.
The exterior features durable polymer handguards, pistol grip, and a side-folding stock, achieving reduced weight and improved portability. A side mounting rail is standard on the left side of the receiver, allowing for the attachment of various optical sights and night vision devices, offering greater expandability than previous AK series models. Despite its compact size, it maintains ballistic performance close to that of the AK-74M, making it a versatile carbine capable of handling a wide range of situations from CQB to medium-range engagements.
Currently, the AK-105 is used by the Russian military and various security agencies, and has also been adopted by military and law enforcement agencies overseas, enjoying high popularity as a representative carbine model of the AK-100 series. The design philosophy, which integrates the firepower of a full-size AK and the maneuverability of the AKS-74U, has had a significant impact on subsequent modernized AKs, making it a representative "modern AK" that combines practicality and reliability, supported by shooters worldwide.
