The real M29 Classic revolver is a relatively recent production, and is called a classic in name only.
Inspired by rival Colt Python, S&W developed the mid-sized L-frame revolvers "M586" and "M686" with full underlugs extending to the muzzle. The success of these models led to their adoption in the larger N-frame revolvers, resulting in the M29 Classic.
This revolver was developed as a controllable revolver with a full underlug to reduce ricochet even with powerful rounds like the .44 Magnum. Now, this model is available as a heavyweight resin gas gun with powerful bullet velocity and cold-resistant Ver.3 mechanism.
