This is a variation of the "Chief's Special," introduced in 1950 and later given the name "Model 36." By extending the barrel by one inch from the popular 2-inch model, this model offers more accurate aiming and easier handling than a snub-nose rifle. Prior to the widespread use of the .357 Magnum, its size and excellent balance made it popular among both government and private sectors for concealed carry and self-defense. The 3-inch version was quickly added to the catalog and garnered positive reviews. Now, this beloved 3-inch model is being released as a Version 2 model gun, featuring smoother operation and more realistic engravings.
