Product Description

The Tokarev, one of the most well-known handguns in the East, is now available as a model gun from Tanaka Works!

It’s always exciting to see a new model gun, especially these days. And when it’s an automatic, it’s hard not to jump at the chance.

This impressive new release features the “Evo2” cartridge technology used in Tanaka’s latest automatic model guns.

Tanaka acquired the dies of the late Hudson and is now bringing this model back to life decades later. They also released a Desert Eagle last year.

Built with modern technology and made by Tanaka, this Tokarev is a model we’ve been eagerly anticipating!

Back in Hudson’s day, the Tokarev was available not only in black but also with a silver-plated model. I’ve handled both, and while the silver version felt a bit unconventional, it was stunningly beautiful. Tanaka has a strong reputation for plating technology, so I really hope they release one as well. (The magazines and cartridges are sold separately under the name “For the Tokarev Series,” so it seems certain that different versions are planned.)

Designed by Fyodor Tokarev at the Tula Arms Plant, the TT-1930 was adopted as the official sidearm of the Soviet Red Army. The TT-33 was a further simplified version of the TT-1930, designed for mass production.

Despite its fame, the Tokarev had a relatively short service life of 18 years, from its adoption until it was replaced by the Makarov in 1951, and original models are now rare. This blowback model gun faithfully recreates a rare TT-33 manufactured at the Tula Arms Plant in 1939, the year World War II began.

Designed for military use, it lacks a safety mechanism to prevent accidental discharge. It also retains the original’s simplified construction, which prioritized reduced part counts and increased production efficiency. Various shock-absorbing components, such as a recoil buffer and hammer buffer, have been incorporated to ensure durability despite the heavy-weight construction, which is susceptible to damage. The result is a firing model gun that stays true to the original’s design concept.

The model uses the 7.62x25mm Tokarev cartridge, which was designed to be compatible with the bottlenecked 7.62x25mm cartridge used in the German Mauser C96. This cartridge was also recreated as a new cartridge for the model gun. The cartridges are made primarily from scratch-resistant ultra-duralumin and feature the highly acclaimed Evo.2 top, delivering a crisp, clear firing sound.

The magazine components also feature SQP treatment for excellent rust and scratch resistance. Firing enthusiasts can enjoy top-tier performance that will not disappoint.
