Tanaka Works Air-Cocking Bolt-Action Kar98k

The "Kar98k (Karabiner 98 kurz)" is a bolt-action rifle developed by shortening the total length of the "Kar98b," which was created by Germany's Mauser. Adopted as the German Wehrmacht's standard-issue rifle in 1935, it served as the German military's primary infantry rifle throughout World War II. Chambered for the 7.92×57mm Mauser round and known for its excellent accuracy and reliability, the Kar98k was used not only as an infantry rifle but also as a sniper rifle, and it is widely recognized as the iconic rifle of the German military during WWII.

Tanaka Works' "Kar98k AIR" is an air-cocking rifle modeled after this legendary firearm. It faithfully reproduces the classical style of the original, combining the company's signature wooden stock with metal components to achieve a texture and weight that feel just like the real thing. The receiver features authentic details, including the "byf" manufacturer code used by Mauser at the time and production year markings. The internal mechanism allows users to enjoy the distinctive feel of bolt-action operation, and it holds 24 BBs. It is also equipped with a variable hop-up system, ensuring practical shooting performance without compromising its realistic appearance.

The "Kar98k AIR" has now been upgraded to Version 2. To improve durability, the resin piston has been replaced with a machined, reinforced aluminum version. The spring guide, which is subject to spring stress, has also been changed from resin to a lubricant-coated steel unit. By adding a newly equipped thrust bearing, friction resistance on the spring is reduced, resulting in stable operation without twisting or wobble. Furthermore, small parts such as the sear latch have been reinforced, creating a final product that could be considered "customized" right out of the box.

This air-cocking rifle perfectly reproduces the characteristic form of the Kar98k—the well-known standard rifle of the German military during WWII—with the craftsmanship and finish unique to Tanaka Works, offering both collectible quality and practical shooting performance.
