About the real-life VKS Vykhlop:
The VKS Vykhlop (Vykhlop) is a special sniper rifle developed by Russia's TsKIB SOO (Central Design Bureau of Sports and Hunting Weapons) in the early 2000s, chambered for the 12.7×55mm STs-130 subsonic cartridge. Also known as the "VKS" or "VSSK," it was developed for the special forces of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB). Designed to maintain high stealth while delivering excellent suppression against targets wearing body armor or behind cover, it is operated as a special rifle for missions that are difficult to handle with the conventional VSS Vintorez.
The VKS's greatest feature is its system combining an integrated suppressor with specially developed 12.7×55mm subsonic cartridges. Compared to general 12.7mm rifles, it significantly reduces muzzle blast and muzzle flash while maintaining the high kinetic energy unique to large-caliber rounds, delivering excellent penetration against body armor and light cover. Depending on the application, multiple types of specialized ammunition, including high-precision and armor-piercing specifications, can be used, providing high accuracy and suppression at an effective range of approximately 600m.
For its operating system, it adopts a bullpup layout and bolt-action, ensuring sufficient barrel length while keeping the overall length short, achieving excellent portability even in confined spaces. It uses a detachable 5-round magazine, and the Picatinny rail can be fitted with various optical sights and night vision devices, while also featuring folding iron sights, combining the high practicality and reliability required for special operations.
The VKS Vykhlop is currently operated by Russian special forces as a special sniper rifle that combines high stealth with the powerful suppression unique to the 12.7mm caliber. Due to its ingenious design and excellent combat performance, it is known as one of the representative rifles of the Russian special forces alongside the VSS Vintorez and AS VAL, and is a highly popular model in movies, games, and the airsoft world.
