Tanaka S&W M500 2-3/4-inch ES (Emergency Survival) Black HW Ver.2 Gas Gun (Released November 11, 2025)

The real gun is designed for emergency self-defense, such as protecting yourself from bears. ES (Emergency Survival) This was the smallest model in the M500 series, named "M500." Housed in a hard case the same color as the grip, it was also sold as a "survival tool kit," containing items for use in emergencies, such as a folding knife, magnesium fire starter, medical kit, aluminum blanket, compass, and whistle. It was designed to be carried in canoes, cars, and small aircraft in areas such as Alaska, where brown bears and other large, dangerous predators live. Interestingly, it even came with a book titled "Bear Attacks of the Century," which summarizes the history of bear attacks and classic countermeasures. All it took was a holster and ammunition, making this a powerful emergency weapon.

However, as mentioned above, the gun itself has the shortest barrel of the M500 series and does not have a recoil compensator, so when you actually fire it, the recoil hits your wrist hard. This is unavoidable since the kit prioritizes compactness, but it is questionable whether it would have been possible to fire continuously in an emergency.

Now, as an airsoft gun, the M500ES Pegasus-type gas gun is now available in a new black heavyweight model. While maintaining the same shooting performance, the heavyweight frame and barrel create an impressive sense of weight. While it doesn't come with a survival kit, it faithfully recreates all the gun's charms, including the orange grips that stand out in an emergency and the shortest 2.75-inch barrel. The internals are the latest version 2 of the S&W X-frame system. Because it's a Pegasus-type gas gun, there's no strong recoil like a real gun, making it safe to use.
