I attached the Archwick USW-G to the Marui G17 Gen3.

on October 18, 2022

This is an officially licensed airsoft replica of the Glock carbine conversion "USW-G" developed by Swiss company B&T for law enforcement.

This USW-G airsoft kit has been a popular item since its release in 2021, with many customers purchasing it at our store.

The actual product was developed and manufactured by B&T in Switzerland, and this kit is an officially licensed B&T item with authentic engraving.

It's been over a year since it was released, so it may seem a little late, but Marui's G17 Gen3, which had been out of stock for a while, is now back in stock, so I decided to try putting it together.

In fact, unlike the G17 and G19 Gen 3 to 5 for real guns, the size and structure of the body varies from manufacturer to manufacturer for airsoft guns, so compatibility varies from product to product (although this is true for any other kit).

According to the manufacturer's information, this USW-G17 kit is "compatible with Tokyo Marui's G17 Gen4 and G19 Gen3,4," and "modifications are required" only for use with the G17 Gen3.

I had never actually tried assembling it before, so I didn't know what kind of processing would be required, so I decided to give it a try this time when the Gen3 arrived for the first time in a while.

To cut to the chase, I was able to use it without any modifications, so I will explain how to install it with photos at the bottom of the page.

Before that, let me give you a brief introduction to the real USW.

About B&T USW-G

The name of the Swiss firearms manufacturer B&T is an abbreviation of "Brügger & Thome."

Like the German company "Heckler and Koch" and the American company "Smith and Wesson," the company is named after the two founders.

B&T is a company that also manufactures bolt-action and assault rifles, but is best known for its 9x19mm Parabellum submachine guns, such as the APC9, a subcompact weapon (SCW) adopted by the US Army, and the MP9 and TP9, which are well known in Japan as GBBs produced by KSC in the past.

The "USW-G" also belongs to the compact weapon category. It is part of the company's Universal Service Weapon (USW) series and is a conversion kit that can be used with the G17/G19 Gen 3 to 5 (for real guns).

Other models in the USW series include those that use original guns based on the Cz75 (such as the USW A1) and a conversion kit for the SIG P320.

The first feature of the USW is that it is extremely lightweight and compact.

Compared to the handgun alone, the overall length is only increased by the amount of slide recoil plus a little extra, but the addition of features such as a folding stock and 20mm underrail provides many benefits.

Another point of praise is that the dot sight mount installed on the top allows the sight to be fixed to the receiver, so the sight remains stationary when firing, unlike when a micro sight is mounted on the pistol slide.

This kit is equipped with a stock and dot sight, allowing it to be used at longer engagement distances than the effective range of a handgun alone, and is used in areas, occupations, and situations where long guns cannot be used for various reasons.

When assembling the kit

As mentioned above, this Archwick USW-G kit requires modification for the Marui Gen3.

Assembling the kit into the original compatible model is not difficult, and only requires turning a few screws.

I started working on it wondering what kind of processing would be required for the G17 Gen3, but I was able to complete it without any problems.

If I had to say something, it would be that the gap between the kit and the slide after assembly is a little tight, and it feels like the sides of the slide are rubbing against each other.

In fact, I noticed some scratches on the slide a while after assembly (this may simply have been caused by rattling the slide when it was being assembled).

However, this is such a light scratch that it does not affect operation at all, and if it bothers you, you can simply lightly polish the contact surface on the kit side and it should be fine.

I think this is where processing is needed.

I took photos while assembling the board, so I've uploaded the steps and the process below. I hope it will be helpful.

Installation procedure

The slide side is now complete.

USW installation procedure 11

Next is the frame side

USW installation procedure 12

First, remove the front screw of the kit.

USW installation procedure 13

This is a hand-tightened bolt, so no tools are required.

USW installation procedure 14

Removing the screws unlocks the "Front Rail Adapter" part that comes with the kit. This adapter fits onto the under-rail of the Glock body, and you insert the frame by pushing it in at an angle.

USW installation procedure 15

At this time, hold the adapter itself as shown in the picture. The adapter has a spring, so you need to keep holding it down. It's quite hard to fit in, but it's easier if you gently twist the frame left and right.

USW installation procedure 16

Insert the adapter firmly until it touches the trigger guard.

USW installation procedure 17

While pushing the frame forward, lift the rear end of the frame and place it inside the kit.

USW installation procedure 18

Once you get to this point, align the slide you removed earlier with the frame.

USW installation procedure 19

When you attach the slide, the hole at the rear of the rear sight part you just installed will be in the position shown in the photo. The holes in the sight and kit won't line up, so push the gun forward so that the holes line up, and then insert the charging handle.

Please note that only the first batch of this product had the charging handle fixed to the rear sight part with a bolt, but from the second batch onwards, this has been changed to a system where the charging handle simply fits into a hole. Please be aware that there have been many customers who have mistakenly thought that the bolt was missing after seeing images of the first batch product in online reviews.

Even with the current fixing method, the grooves in the handle parts fit into the guide rails on the kit, and the gun is fixed later by tightening the screws on the front rail adapter, so the handle is designed to never come off.

Finally, retighten the screws on the front rail adapter that you removed earlier.

And it's finished!

The top of the kit has a mount for Aimpoint's ACRO P-1.

A 20mm rail panel is also included, so you can mount other red dot sights. The mounting screws for this rail panel are Torx screws. (A hex lobe wrench is included in the package, so no tools are required.)

The folding charging handle is easy to carry and automatically pops up when you slide your hand along the front of the kit, allowing for quick cocking .

Furthermore, the handle folds automatically when you let go of it. (It may be a bit stiff at first, as it sometimes stays upright, but once you get used to it, it's fine. The blowback force will fold it anyway.)

The stock can be unlocked with your index finger while still gripping the gun, and then you can lock it in place by snapping the unlocked stock open with your other hand.

To fold the stock, press the round button at the base of the stock from below to unlock it. Near this button there is a wire loop where you can attach a sling.

So, the installation itself was not difficult, and there were no parts that needed to be modified to fit the Marui G17 Gen3, and it worked without any problems.

This is a great kit that is easy to install and takes no time to install, greatly improving both the look and functionality.

lastly

This product has been a popular item that has been purchased by many customers, but it has already been decided that it will be discontinued and will be sold until stock runs out.

Furthermore, as part of our final campaign, we have been running a sale recently in which the CNC aluminum rear sight, which was previously a separate option, is included as standard.

If you're interested, we recommend you get it while it's still in stock.
