S&W M442 2-inch "Centennial Airweight" Heavy Weight Ver.2 Gas Gun

The S&W M442 "Centennial Airweight" is a 5-shot revolver based on the company's compact "J-frame" series, designed specifically for lightweight concealed carry. Its most notable feature is the "internal hammer" design, which eliminates the external hammer typically found on revolvers. This design prevents the hammer from snagging on clothing and is intended for carry and quick-draw shooting at close range. As a result, it is a unique model that operates solely in DAO (Double-Action Only) mode.

The name "Centennial" originated from the M40 Centennial, released by S&W in the 1950s. The M40 was introduced in 1952 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of S&W's founding, and it was characterized by its combination of a grip safety and an internal hammer. The M442 is a successor to that lineage (though the M442 lacks the grip safety). Furthermore, the M442 belongs to the "Airweight" series, featuring a lightweight aluminum alloy frame. While simple in appearance, the configuration of "J-frame / 5-shot / .38 Special / internal hammer / lightweight aluminum frame / compact 2-inch barrel" perfectly encapsulates S&W’s design philosophy of a "compact revolver prioritizing portability." The M442 remains a legendary firearm that still appears in S&W's catalog today in various iterations.

We have modeled this M442 as a Pegasus-system gas gun. The internal mechanism has been updated to the latest Version 2 for J-frame gas guns, improving the operating feel. The exterior has also been refined to match the historical context; for example, the barrel pin, which was present in Version 1 due to structural limitations, has been removed by changing the fixing method, updating it to a Reiwah-era standard for an early-production M442.
