PEGASAS II Gas Gun Series Single Action Army 2nd Generation
7-½ inch Non-fluted Cylinder Stainless Finish
The Colt Single Action Army (SAA), born in 1873, is a legendary revolver that symbolizes the Wild West as the "Peacemaker."
In 1999, Tanaka Works commercialized this SAA as an innovative "PEGASAS (Pegasus) system" gas revolver, earning high praise for its simple and realistic structure, which integrated the magazine and gas. In 2005, it was equipped with a detachable cylinder, improving realism and maintainability, and contributing to the development of competitions such as cowboy shooting and fast draw.
Meanwhile, the severe load from competition use highlighted durability issues, leading to a redesign around 2018 with the theme of "high durability, high realism, and practical performance." This resulted in the birth of "PEGASAS II," which adopted a new mechanism with a through-base pin structure that directly strikes the valve. With variable HOP, an inner magazine system, a total capacity of 25 rounds including reserve bullets, and a strengthened and more realistic internal structure, it became suitable for airsoft games and competitive use. Consideration was also given to part compatibility with existing models.
While maintaining the classic basic form of the SAA, we have created a variation model of the Pegasus 2 SAA that intentionally combines a stainless-steel color with a non-fluted cylinder.
Originally, the fluted cylinder is considered the standard for SAAs, but the non-fluted design accentuates the cylinder's presence, making its appearance more substantial and massive. The smooth cylindrical outer surface of the cylinder emphasizes the SAA's inherent simple structural beauty, evoking the feel of a custom gun reflecting personal preferences or a well-used practical item that has been maintained over the years, rather than a mass-produced military firearm.
Non-fluted cylinders were originally designed to withstand high pressures, such as those from magnum cartridges, by omitting the fluting for weight reduction, and this origin inherently embodies "strength" and "practicality."
In real firearms, there are examples of non-fluted cylinders being produced for the 3rd generation Colt SAA, but when combined with a stainless-steel color, it evokes the Sturm Ruger Vaquero, a modern reinterpretation of the classic single-action revolver. Furthermore, CIMARRON, known for SAA replicas, also has stainless models that prioritize maintainability. This model, rather than faithfully reproducing historical standard specifications, is finished with a narrative that suggests a firearm reflecting the owner's taste, a custom prioritizing aesthetics over practicality, or an SAA that has been modified across generations.
This is a connoisseur's variation model that stands apart from the standard, only possible due to the reliable operation and fundamental design of the Pegasus 2 SAA.
