Product Description

SMOLT Revolver 4inch Stainless Finish Ver.3 Square butt Gas Gun

In the 1970s, S&W's .357 Magnum revolvers did not have a full-lug design with a weight under the barrel. In contrast, rival Colt's Python had the advantage of not only high barrel precision but also the ability to reduce muzzle jump by increasing the weight with an under-lug. Additionally, the Python's rifling had a strong rotation effect, imparting sufficient spin to the bullet, resulting in high trajectory stability.
However, while the Python's trigger action is very smooth, it can be difficult to grasp the exact moment the hammer falls. In contrast, S&W's actions are often considered superior in terms of trigger control, so it was natural for competitive shooters and gunsmiths to consider combining the advantages of both.
This is how the ultimate hybrid revolver, the "SMOLT," was born. The work of Californian master craftsman Bill Davis is particularly well known. The early models, which featured a locking ball on the yoke, but also a more elaborate mechanism for locking the tip of the ejector rod, are now rare and highly sought after by collectors.
The Smolt was a completely custom-made model, where the user brought in their S&W K frame and specified the length of the Python barrel to be attached. The Smolt we previously released was based on a round-butt K frame, but after its release, we received many requests from old fans asking for a square-butt version as well.
So we created a square-butt Smolt. It's not just a different frame; we've changed it to a wide hammer and trigger, and fitted it with an oversized grip. It's a gun that exudes a classic atmosphere of yesteryear. Furthermore, this stainless steel finish model is based on the M66. Not only the frame and barrel, but also the trigger and hammer are finished in stainless steel.
(*In Japan, the brand has long been known as "SMYTHSON," but in the United States it has been called "SMOLT," a combination of the manufacturer's name. With the latest version 3, the model name has also been unified to "SMOLT.")
