It was first officially adopted in 1997.
This is now the most widely used dot sight not only in the United States but also in military and police forces around the world.

The Aimpoint ACRO S-2 Shotgun Reflex Sight offers a compact design based on the ACRO 2nd Generation.

This optical sight is designed to mount on the rib of a ventilated shotgun. The mounting bracket included with the sight makes the optical sight compatible with most common shotguns.

The 9M.OA's large red dot facilitates automatic muzzle swing and position correction, and the optics provide a smooth, clear view for both eyes.

The low 15mm optical axis facilitates proper gun mounting, making the ACRO S-2 excellent for bird and small game hunting.
