Colt Detective Special .38 Special 2-inch Second Issue "Earl Model" Nickel Finish Model Gun

In 1907, Colt released the Police Positive, a masterpiece revolver incorporating a "positive lock" that blocked the hammer when the trigger was not pulled. Its popularity as a revolver for police officers led to the addition of a variation, a model with a shortened 2-inch barrel and chambered for the .38spl cartridge, named the Detective Special. "Detective" refers to a detective or detective, and as its name suggests, it became a favorite among plainclothes detectives and became widely recognized as a representative model of snubnose revolvers.
The Detective Special, which we previously sold as a model gun, has been extensively remodeled and reborn as the "R-model" with improved reproducibility, durability, and operability. The cylinder lockup problem (a symptom where the timing between the trigger movement and the cylinder rotation changes) that occurred in the previous model due to the faithful reproduction of the Colt mechanism has been resolved by changing the rebound lever to a two-piece structure made of a sturdy press and die-cast material, preventing misalignment of the operation timing over the long term.
In addition, the grip is equipped with a pressed weight, and the exterior faithfully reproduces the details of the 2nd type from 1946 onwards, which is known as the Colt Detective, with anti-reflective grooves on the front and rear sights and anti-slip serrations on the trigger.

Nickel-plated models were added to this variation. In the catalogs of the time, there were some models with nickel plating on the surface to prevent rust, and many models had nickel-finish models. Nickel-plated models were popular not only to prevent corrosion caused by sweat when carrying the gun for long periods of time, but also for their beautiful appearance. Nowadays, stainless steel is the mainstream material for real guns, and guns that are nickel-plated have become rare due to the hassle of cleaning.
Colt has made a significant contribution to the evolution of revolvers, and the Detective Special is considered a masterpiece of compact double-action revolvers. This is a must-have item for not only model gun enthusiasts, but anyone. (Fires using 7mm cap powder. Includes six .38 Special firing cartridges.)
