[MDN] Type 88 Iron Cap Type 2 Medium Improved Model Replica (Latest Lot/Released October 15, 2025)

The SDF Type 88 Steel Cap Model 2 Medium replica has been renewed and is back.

This product is a faithful reproduction of the current model of the "Type 88 Steel Helmet" combat helmet, used by the three branches of the Japan Self-Defense Forces (Ground, Maritime, and Air Force), as well as the Japan Coast Guard and police, down to the smallest detail.

Within the Self-Defense Forces, it is also known as "Tepachi," and in 2022 it was also used as the title of a Fuji TV drama themed around the Self-Defense Forces.

The helmet is the OD color used by the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force. The latest batch features a significantly improved interior harness compared to previous replicas! It is firm and strong, providing a secure fit.

Additionally, improvements have been made with each production run, such as using a chin strap buckle with a structure similar to the real thing. (The product photo on this page shows the helmet with the camouflage cover removed, showing the old-style buckle from an older batch. All other photos are of the new model, which will be re-released in October 2025.)

The Velcro adjustable chin rest is also included.

In addition, the harness fixing washers and nuts are custom-made to be the same shape as the actual official products.

The camouflage cover (helmet cover) and harness are sewn and assembled in Japan, resulting in a higher quality finish than cheap replicas.

Six cushion pads are included to attach to the inside of the hat.
