[WESTERN ARMS] Colt M1991A1 Compact Heat Custom (Scheduled for release in late September 2026)

Western Arms products are gas guns made of high-density plastic, allowing you to enjoy the same realistic weight as a real firearm.
The "Magna Blowback" mechanism, which is the heart of the gun, allows you to experience powerful recoil shock just like a real gun, making for a realistic and exciting shooting experience. It uses safe low-pressure gas and fires 6mm BBs using the same process as a real firearm.

The compact Colt .45 automatic, famously used in "Heat" (1995), a masterpiece action film representing the 1990s, is revived in a collectible specification featuring custom grips.

The Colt .45 Automatic from the movie "Heat"

Michael Mann's masterpiece "Heat" is still remembered as a landmark in Hollywood gun action films.

Plans for a sequel based on the novel "Heat 2," co-authored by Michael Mann, are currently underway, and it's still fresh in our minds that the hot news of Leonardo DiCaprio and Christian Bale being cast was reported in July 2026.

The 12-minute climactic gunfight sequence, said to have had a tremendous influence on subsequent gun action depictions, was filmed by shutting down an entire weekend in the office district of Los Angeles, conducting large-scale location shooting that would be unthinkable today.

It is said that 800 to 1,000 blanks were consumed per take, and the thoroughly pursued realism is still talked about today.

This film also garnered attention as the first full-fledged co-starring vehicle for Hollywood's two biggest stars at the time, Al Pacino and Robert De Niro, who were both at the peak of their careers.

Director Michael Mann, known for his extraordinary attention to detail in firearm depictions, delighted gun fans by having these two lead stars use handguns with distinctive characteristics.

De Niro, who played Neal, a professional gangster, used a practical double-action automatic, while Pacino, who played Vincent Hanna, a seasoned detective, made a nostalgic choice of a .45 auto adorned with ivory grips. This choice also contributed to the contrast between the characters and was quite striking.

The model used by Pacino is a compact version of the M1991A1, which Colt released with a military aesthetic in mind as a variation of the Mk4 Series 80.

This corresponds to a cosmetic change model of the Officers ACP, released in 1985 as the originator of sub-compact carry guns, which were made lighter and smaller by shortening the Government frame.

Unlike the 3-inch size seen in various companies' sub-compact 1911s, represented by the Defender today, it features a unique format combining a 3.5-inch barrel and a short frame.

Realism reproduced with custom parts

WESTERN ARMS realistically models this Colt M1991A1 Compact by incorporating dedicated parts from the Officers series.

Many 3-inch sub-compact 1911s adopt a bushingless structure due to dimensional considerations with the locking lugs inside the slide, fixing the barrel by the outer circumference of the bull barrel when the slide is closed. However, the Officers series adopts a 3.5-inch barrel, which is the absolute minimum dimension that allows the use of Colt's traditional barrel bushing, thus strongly retaining the design as if the Government model were simply downsized.

The barrel bushing is designed to be even shorter than the Commander line, which is the short-barreled model of the Government, and is a special one with the diameter of the barrel passage enlarged to accommodate the conical semi-cone barrel.

The dedicated slide and frame are made of carbon black heavy-weight material, renowned for its weight and texture, and are faithfully reproduced, including the serial number from the movie prop gun specifications.

The slide features a high-blade front and rear sight with a 3-point white dot specification. The frame side incorporates a long trigger, a Commander hammer, and a correspondingly long "ducktail" style grip safety, adhering to the updated modern Government design.

Heat-spec ivory type grips

The grips, absolutely essential for a "Heat" movie specification, come standard with specially manufactured ivory-type grip panels.

The smooth polymer grips, reproducing the elegant milky white color, are a delightful item that allows you to fully enjoy the atmosphere of the film, where Pacino's gun peeked out from his hip holster.

The substantial feel characteristic of a heavy-weight model and realistic details that make it seem as if it stepped right out of the movie.

WESTERN ARMS proudly presents this package as a custom model for detectives, especially for action movie fans, with maximum satisfaction. It is definitely something to pay attention to.
