In 1907, the .32 caliber New Police, created at the request of the New York City Police Department, was upgraded to the Police Positive with the addition of a "Positive Lock" safety. At the same time, the Police Positive Special was also produced in .38 Special, and this model became popular as a lightweight police revolver. The Police Positive Special, which boasts a production record of 750,000 units among Colt's pocket-sized revolvers, later known as "D-Frames," virtually dominated the US police revolver market in the early 20th century. A Colt catalog from that time described it as "the most compact, lightest, and most powerful pocket and house pistol on the market."

The Police Positive Special, previously sold as a model gun by our company, has undergone extensive modifications and has been reborn as the "R-model," featuring improved reproducibility, durability, and operability. The cylinder lockup issue (a symptom of timing changes between trigger movement and cylinder rotation) that occurred in the previous model due to the faithful reproduction of the Colt mechanism has been resolved by a new rebound lever with a two-piece structure made of sturdy pressed and die-cast parts, preventing misalignment over the long term. Additionally, a pressed weight has been installed inside the grip, and the exterior has been improved with anti-reflective grooves on the front and rear sights and serrations on the front of the trigger, faithfully recreating the details of the 3rd Type from around 1960.
