[G17 Supplementary Explanation] How to tighten the cartridge base cover

This time, we will introduce how to handle the CO2 cartridge base cover, which is the cover at the bottom of the magazine.

The image above shows the bottom of the magazine with the BGK-M8 Magazine Bottom removed. When you purchase the product, the BGK-CO-CAP CO2 Cartridge Base Cover (hereafter referred to as the Base Cover) is attached like this.

Here we have the base cover removed from the previous state. Note the internal screws.

Although it is very rough, here is a conceptual diagram of the inside of the magazine. As you can see, the screws for attaching the base cover are cut perpendicular (straight down) to the space inside the magazine.

For this reason, the base cover shown by the blue line must be set so that it is level with the threads inside the magazine. This is not just a CO2 magazine for the BG-17, but is a common structure for all high-capacity CO2 magazines made by BATON Airsot.

This is the inside of the bottom of the CO2 magazine for the BG-17 that was returned because the base cover wouldn't close. If you compare it with the previous image, you'll understand what happened.

That's right, because the base cover was set at an angle like this and then forcibly tightened, the area around the screw threads where it catches has been completely crushed.

As shown in this image, when setting the base cover, it may have been aligned with the cut on the bottom of the magazine, but in any case, a magazine that has been damaged like this cannot be repaired.

In addition, since this problem occurred after the base cover, which was originally set correctly, was removed and installed incorrectly, it will not be covered by the warranty, regardless of the period since purchase.

To avoid this problem, it is important to install the base cover correctly. First, practice installing the base cover without inserting a CO2 cartridge.

First, drop the base cover horizontally into the hole at the bottom of the magazine and insert the included hex wrench into the central hex hole. When doing this, do not tighten it clockwise all at once, but slowly move it counterclockwise to find the part where the base cover and the threads inside the magazine engage.
It may be difficult to find at first, but neglecting this step will ruin the magazine in one shot, so be patient and search for it.

Once you hear a "click" or "click" and feel the threads engage, lightly tighten the base cover clockwise. If the base cover turns smoothly, you have successfully tightened it.

As a guideline, as long as the hex wrench is inserted straight into the magazine body as shown in the image, it's OK.

The video below was filmed before the Type-N magazine was developed, so the explanation uses a CO2 magazine driver. However, the only tool used is a hex wrench, and the basic handling remains the same, so please take a look.

Above, we have explained how to handle the CO2 cartridge base cover.
For those of you who are loyal users of the CO2GBB series, this is a task that is as easy as breathing, but for those of you for whom the BG-17 is your first CO2 gas gun, we have provided a detailed explanation.
We hope that this article will help all CO2 beginners learn how to use it correctly.
