Colt Single Action Army 2nd Generation 5-½ inch "R-model" HW MODEL GUN

The new model gun of the "Colt Single Action Army (SAA)," which we previously announced, is finally officially here as the "R-model" model gun.

This product is based on the old model gun, incorporating the popular features of the Pegasus 2 series SAA gas gun! In improving upon the old model, we incorporated insights from active fast draw shooters, reflected the results of verification tests on stress, wear, and operational feel during actual use, and reviewed the specifications of each part.

The "Colt Single Action Army (SAA)," born in 1873, is known as the iconic revolver of the Old West and is a famous gun affectionately called the "Peacemaker." Despite several production interruptions and specification changes, its basic structure has been passed down largely unchanged, maintaining its high popularity to this day.

Models produced from 1956 to 1974, after a production halt due to World War II, are called Second Generation. Compared to the First Generation, there are differences in the method of fixing the base pin and the shape of the ejector rod head. SAAs from this era were widely used in post-war Westerns, gaining widespread recognition through movies and television, and left a strong impression in Japan.

This new product, the "Colt Single Action Army 2nd Generation 'R-model' Model Gun," is an improved model with a significantly revised internal structure, based on the previously released Second Generation model. While maintaining the external realism and operational feel cultivated in previous models, it is designed with a primary focus on improving operability and durability for firing. Reinforcement of the cylinder area and lockwork, along with optimization of the operational balance, aim to achieve stable operation and improved reliability. In the design process, in addition to feedback from the Pegasus 2 series, insights from active legendary fast draw shooters were also incorporated. Each part was reviewed based on verification of stress, wear, and operational feel during actual use.

Furthermore, by newly designing a dedicated hammer for model guns, a correct hammer-down position is achieved. Through these cumulative improvements, the specifications prioritize "actual enjoyable use" rather than mere replication. In addition, the inclusion of W-cap bullet heads allows for the use of single or double caps, accommodating different uses. A dry-firing spring is also standard equipment, allowing for practice without excessive stress on the main unit. The cartridges have been changed to all-brass, balancing texture and durability. O-rings have been added to prevent sticking. The exterior follows the details unique to the Second Generation, maintaining a classical atmosphere. This model balances external realism with internal practicality.

Tanaka Works' SAA model guns, which have been continuously improved over many years, have entered a new phase with the "R-model." Please pick it up and experience its evolution as an SAA that is not just for display, but for the enjoyment of shooting.
